Making Learning Designs in Layers with CADMOS

M. Katsamani & S. Retalis

Keywords: learning design, layered design

This chapter proposes how the “separation of concerns” concept that that stems from the principles of web engineering and courseware engineering, can be applied to the learning design via a graphical, IMS-LD compliant learning design tool, called CADMOS. An evaluation study of CADMOS use by teachers is described, which shows that the “separation of concerns” concept is useful to them. Implications for the learning design and teachers’ practice are explored.
